In need of translation 'bout JRSC setup

Well, the deed is done.
5th Gen JRSC on its way from Moss motors in the USA.
All the fun of fitting it to a 4th gen to come.
I've read the threads about this but I need to clarify what you guys mean by 'detonation' when talking about setting up the motor, to avoid detonation.
Do you mean blow the motor up, as in dead! or back fireing or something else?

Cheers Folks

^yes if you look up the dictionary term, it would mean "blow up"

good luck finding the custom brackets needed to put it on

Oh, thanks for the info, now I understand terms like 'adjusting the timing until you hear ""slight detonation"". Still wondering how to slightly blow up your engine, but hey, your the know it all.

Nice pink car Q.

Detonation cannot always be heard, best way to do it is pull your plugs, they will tell you timing and rough fuel mixture.

What I've always been told is detonation is when the fuel mixture in your cylinder fires before it is supposed to. It is caused by too much heat in the cylinder chamber. Usually because of some forced induction i.e. Supercharged or turbocharged. It is a very bad thing because your engine isn't firing when the spark ignites but just when it gets so hot that the fuel starts igniting.
Hope this helps, seeing as everyone else is being so helpful.
