Well I finally got my own PO account. I am the friend of Mr. r00t who had the unfortunate accident were a trucker ran me off the road and I rolled my car a few times (thx for all those who posted. I managed to walk away with a slight scrap on my arm and a case of whiplash but that’s about it) ...Well my 93 si was totaled and I’m still waiting to here from the insurance on a settlement, but in the mean time I’m looking for another lude. I was wondering what you guys think...I either A) try to find a vtec with low miles or B) get an SI with about 100-150k miles and do a swap ... which would be either cheaper or more reasonable? or just the best option ....depending on how the settlement goes may sway my decision ..Finding a good vtec with low miles is hard as hell to do...thanks
Personally, I would rather spend the extra money on a true VTEC. Yes they are hard to find but they are out there waiting for you. I could have gone the cheaper route and bought an Si and did a swap but I didn't want to take the chance of buying another engine that I don't know where and what it has been through plus I wouldn't know the exact mileage.
I take comfort and pride knowing that my car and engine came from the factory together and I know its history.
That's just me.
How much would you be looking to spend? 94 VTEC with 77,200 miles that may be available to you
Crazie is right, most people end up spending more money trying to put equipment on their cars so it matches a VTEC (brakes, interior, sub, map lights, etc.).
Id like to get a vtec...Im hoping I get enough out of the settlement to buy one.. but I cant find any that are worth looking at...I did an auto trader search for 93-96 preludes..50 mile search came back with 12 preludes...2 vtec (123000 miles they want 9k for it, I went to look at it. Body is in good to fiar condition, interior was not well taken car of...has DC sport headers and exaughst, aem cool air intake, and an aftermarket fiberglass hood. Its from a dealer so the guy there didnt know anything about it.) and there was this one.... http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...or=&cardist=44
(anyone know what he means by type s motor set up?)
I then uped to a 75 mile search...a few more ludes 1 more vtec (something like 175k miles) did a 100 mile search nothing new 200 mile search one more but nothing worth looking at... Im not real up on travelling a far distance to by a car unless it was worth it... It just one of those things where you would like to ( see it, drive it, have a mechanic look it over make sure you are not getting screwed types of things) But thx for the input guys.
IMPO: I wouldnt buy from a kid nor buy a car with mods. Major Dealerships mark up the prices of their cars A LOT! Do i wouldnt buy from a dealership...or a major one at least. just my little .02 good luck. Try cars.com also.

Yeah I know... kids tear them up... I had my si for only like 3 months... it was a one owner and a woman drove it and took care of it I dout Im going to find another like it...but in a 100 mile search on cars.com there was 1 4th gen posted thx though
I'm the 3rd owner of my VTEC and the 2 that had it before me was a lady in her 40s and a revren(sp?) in his 40s. The only problem with my car is that the paint is kinda faded from it sitting ou in the sun. Mine had around 140k on it...I guess the other problem would be the odometer doesnt work.
