Need some HELP please

i have a 93 si/vtec with stock h23 tranny

When I accelerate in Gear the front of the car shakes and clicks. It gets more prominent the longer I drive. It runs fine in nuetral tho.

I took it to a mechanic today and he says the axles are shot but not 100% sure. He wants to charge me $450.00 for parts and labor.

Do you guys agree with him? If so do you think I should replace it myself? Should I go stock? Is there a write up on axle replacement?

I should mention that I have ABS and the light has been on ever since i installed a tower bar.

could it be possible that there is something with the motor mounts?

450 is too much for axle replacement. should be like half that

did you mean to say a specific gear, or just that the car rattles and clicks when accelerating in ANY gear, and when you say run in neutral, do you just mean idling, or actually coasting in neutral?

I would also think of the motor mounts first. who installed your motor?

Mine does the same thing, but its not really noticeable in first gear. One of my axles is like 10 months old and the other over 2 years old. They both look fine on the outside...

It's F'd up in all gears and runs smooth in neutral and at idle.

Dude, its the axels, you can get them cheap. I think you can find them on ebay even. One of mine went bad and i drove on it for a week, bad idea, that vibration caused serious problems. My flywheel came loose, my oil drain bolt was almost out and other misc bolts and nuts were loose.

The way you find out is to jack up the front of the car and let the wheels spin with the car on, you can listen and figure out where the sound is coming from.

have you tried coasting in neutral to see if it makes the noise? It would help in diagnosing it if is in fact the axles
