need some help with my gen 4

Hi guys, I searched the forums and couldn't find anything that might have been helpful to me about this specific issue. I just recently got my hands on a 92 S with H23 swapped and the speedo wasn't working due to the VSS not being plugged in. So I plugged it up and now it seems that any time the car is in motion and in neutral the rpms sit around 2k, once the ar stops they drop to roughly 600 or 700 and it feels shakey and about to die though it never does.

I'm fairly new to hondas and this is my first experience with owning a prelude and aside from this issue and it not having 3rd gear(btw, wtb an M2L5), I'm pleased. I would really like some info on possible causes and remedies to this idle issue if you guys are willing.

Thanks!!

I guess it could be timing, but my issue is if it doesn't drop that low in nuetral, but only when sitting still, that doesn't seem consistant.

does the motor actually sound like its at 2k or just the speedo?

It was actually running at 2k, the tach works properly. Since leaving this post I'd realized it was most likely a timing or firing issue, but its actually stopped doing this completely that I've noticed. I can't remember the last time it idled at or near 2,000rpm. Now the only problems it seems to have are a slight miss at idle when it warms up and a little bit of smoke from burning oil.
