need a serious answer.

I'm thinking about having my head rebuilt (machined, valve seals etc) from the 1qt/1000 mile oil consumption problem i'm having (compression is still good near 200)

anyways, is it worth it to go to a set of aftermarket cams w/ valve springs/retainers?

Of course i'd like to pull some nice power out while im' doing this....

cam owners help me out

I don't have them, but will this coming winter when I bust the motor open. Crower Stage 2 with stock idle lobes, spring/valves, P+P head w/ JG Redline head package, bump compression up with JE pistons, Crower rods, general rebuild, and all will be tuned with my VAFC and cam gears. Should add some good numbers. I'm shooting for 200hp to the wheels with a clean running N/A motor. Then LSD. I'd like high 13 sec. E/T. Not many people have much to say about the cams, because a lot go the forced fed route, turbo or nitrous. I'm just going to take the plunge.

Cams alone are no good, you wil need aftermarket ECU as the reduce vacum in the motor will wreak havoc on the stock computer. Also a larger throttle body is essential.

OT but, what part of the head is messed up that its causing your oil comsumption? I want to know cuz I have pretty bad comsumption too. The only thing is I don't ever see even a puff of white smoke and my plugs are all clean. How about you? Thanks.

h22's are notorious for high oil consumption.

You can usually look at bad fitting rings.

Also not breaking the engine in right will get you engine drinking more oil than it should be.
