so i parked my car on the street (i never do) to eat about a block over. the girl never shows, i turn the phone on, i had it off for a concert i watched her play at, then call her she says "im not here, im going somewhere else, but you can come........" long story, ill post it in OT. anyways, i go to get in the car and start to drive off there is a big ass spot (12" diameter approx) where something hit my windshield. its not chipped inside or out, so i have no clue. i didnt bother with the police cause they wouldnt do anything. would this be covered with full coverage insurance? or how much would it cost to get a new one from the dealer installed?
will definitely be covered with full coverage. Insurance company may ask you to file a police report, because it's likely some kind of vandalism or "hit and run" type of incident. You're better off calling a glass company, usually dealers have a glass company come in to do any glass work on the car. I used Safelite when I had my windshield on my 2nd gen done. They drove to my house, replaced it, and left, easy enough.
Btw, this whole thing stinks. Park your car and you get burned, I hope bad things happen to whomever is responsible for what happened.
I believe so, I know people who have filed hit-and-run reports the next day, or later, as in not at the scene of the crime. Check with your insurance company asap though, you might not need a police report, it's just usually if the damage occurred when you're not in the car, you may not have to suffer a premium increase, and that usually goes along with having filed a report, but that may differ state to state, or not exist at all and I'm just crazy. Check though.
When the windshield on my 4g was shattered I had it replaced for about $220. They came to my house and replaced it. Usually, even with full coverage you'll have to pay out of your own pocket for the windshield because it will be cheaper than the deductible.
well, the insurance will only pay anything past $500 (i dont know why my parents use a no name insurance company anyways). Im getting it done at a place called Cassidy and Self here downtown.
I always make sure that I have full glass coverage with no deductible under the comprehensive part of the insurance cause Ive had to replace my windshield like three times. Its worth the extra cost IMO. Oh and by the way I would avoid Safelite if I were u. They did a pretty ****ty job the first few times they came out to replace my driver side window after a break in. They guy was all pulling and bending the interior molding of the door having forgot a couple of screws. It freaked the hell out of me and I wonder how good of a job they would do if I werent standing right there. Grrrrrrrr. I use Harmon glass and they did a real clean job with my windshield and that is where the local Honda dealership recommends around here.
try calling some competitors. Glass shops have an insane mark up built in. My windshield replacement started at about 285, ended up getting them down to 200.00. Also, make sure that either they can re-use the trim around your windshield or that you purchase a new one. Safelite came out to do mine but the trim is a special order piece (on '93 VTEC at least).

so you guys wouldnt recommend safelite for me to use? i really want to replace my windshild because theres so many nicks in it. the windshield is really important to have it nick-free. and what about harmon glass? are they good?
i want very good glass, i dont mind to pay extra for that. i just need to make sure its very high quality with maybe some cool features like a coating of this or that.
btw, i know this thread is old.
