Now, he's on an extremely limited budget. This needs to be done as cheaply as he can.
What's his best option? I'm not really familiar with 4th gen possibilities, but I'd assume he can do an H23, F22B, and an H22. What would he be looking at cost wise for each of those? Where would be a good place to order each of those? Thanks in advance.
if you can find a good condition h23 used.. it should go online for around 500 not including shipping
hmotorsonline sells the f22b for around 750 shipped i beleive.. you can re-use your harness and ecu.. just swap over the coolant temp sensor.. also.. the thermostat housing i think sits a lil differantly and the oil filter doesn't have a coolant line running through it.. knock sensor is gone on the f22b and therefor you'll get a check engine light for that.. you can install the knock from the old motor but after i did it.. it's prob easier to just live with a check engine light
you can do a search on the f22b and you'll find massive info...
i have not done the h22 into an si swap so i can't speak for that.. but between swaping out a blown h23 to and f22b then to a used h23 again.. i would do h23 to h23 if you can find it for cheap
hope this helps.. but yeah.. search and you'll find all the answers you are looking for as far as what the f22b involves
i have found a site where you can get a jdm H22 longblock for 1350 shipped, or theres the junkyard way most places are going to be right around that same exact price tho.
another h23 would be easiest. i would buy from hmotors. longblock there last time i checked was 1k plus shipping. of course used in-town would be cheaper, but time is the battle im usually fighting. whatever you do, dont go through OSAKA, theyre very very hit and miss when it comes to you getting your motor in a condition ready to be installed.
