Ok, i bought this 92 prelude si 2.3 dohc non vtech about a week ago. it was makeing very small pinging noises, but i changed the oil and it seemed to go away. i take it on the interstate yesterday and as i am coming off the off-ramp, the pinging turns to knocking. then somewhere down the street the knocking turns to three different noises.
A really fast clicking, like taping the fingernails of both hands in succesion on a table.
a pretty loud knocking that sounds like drumming two ladels on the side of a steel refrigerator.
and a metalic grinding squeaking noises that sounds like the noise your brakes make when they are going, exept three times as loud and all intermitent like.
So, i don't think this is good. The engine is a H22 a1. i am wondering if i should re-build the engine or if it is even worth it. Many post i have seen say that a rebuilt one ends up doing the same thing.
So if i go with a used one i can't buy a rebuilt used because it will be too much money. so i need to go with one from a person seller that i find off of here.
now do i go with the h23 engine again, wich seems to go pretty cheap, or do i go with the h22 engine? not only that but i need to find one.
Also, what does h22 mean? If the engine or heads that i find/ am looking at are h22, then does that automatically mean that it is a v-tech engine?
I have checked out the faqs for the swap. they seem pretty straight forward. But i just want to make sure that other than swapping the motor mount and a couple other things, is this going to work fine with my si?
I will need another computer right?
any other relevant information that i have forgotten to ask would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, yeah... i found lots of bumpers on ebay. but no actual metal bumper reinforcement. i need that if anyone has it.
As for the engine? i will have 350 this weekend, and i also have a 1985 yamaha fj1100 that i would be willing to trade to get my lude back on the road.
contact me if you can help.
