Need help fixing my JDM Headlights

Well, i was sanding down a cf hood i have on my car when I accidentally sanded part or my left headlight. Ive heard of ways to repair them by wet sanding them down, polishing them and it should be fine....but can anyone tell me some steps on how to do this? Also, I heard of the XPEL Headlight protection film....does this work? if it does, would it affect the lighting given off from my HIDs?

1. there is a thread on here about wet sanding, heck, you could even google wet-sanding headlights. They're all pretty much the same.

2. xpel will work and will not affect any light output (its clear unless you buy colored or tinted ones). 3M also makes it. I remember a company specifically carrying jdm one piece pre-cut film (because most places will have the 2pc USDM cut).

yes i used a 1500grit to remove scratches then buffed using a rubbing compound (you can get at walmart for both) and that fixed my scratches. But you must sand wet.
