Need Help...F22a1

hello, first post, new to all of this, with my tax return this year I am going to rebuild my F22a1, I am working on a budget of $1500 (I know its low) I can get a rebuild kit for $305, now I plan on doing everything I can while I have it torn apart, Labor is no issue, and I have access to a machine shop.

what I need to know is what should I buy ontop of rebuilding it (i'm alreadying going to bore it out, balance it and blueprint it.....just looking for advice on anything else..

anything else would be helpful....thanks in advance

With a budget of $1500 I would retire the F22A1 and upgrade to a H22A

see thats my problem though, I don't want to buy another engine and then rebuild that one, what I want to do is tweak the hell out of this one (reason is this is my daily and I use it to deliver pizza, so I need a very dependable car, hints the rebuild....and once I get my new job I plan on buying another car, for project car (and that one I will go all out on)

so baring a new engine what else should I do? should I go for a small turbo? super charger? spray? like I said I will have the engine apart so I could stud the head and everything.......anyways thanks in advance

with the 1500 budget you can find a h22 off of a jdm website and the f22 tranny should work with no problems so all you realy need is the motor

Honestly, don't waste the time on rebuilding the f22a1, much much easier/better to go to the h22a, especially if youre talking about a turbo/spray/sc, if you want to do that on your dd, get ready for it to not be your dd anymore haha. but if you are serious and f/i i'd say go with the h23. end of story though, toss the f22 ad replace w/ h-series.

See thats what I was thinking, I don't really like Vtec (I know hate, and flame away) but I can get an H23 Long-block Fully rebuilt less than 60k mileage for 1400 off JDM, I'm really considering that, plus I just got hired at an over the road construction job making bank, so after next week money may not even be an issue, however say what you will, this little SOHC is my baby, and I love being able to say "that's right my SOHC just beat your (insert car here) LOL and with this job my lude won't be my DD either, it will just be my money maker / toy (and for all you others I race on a legit drag track)

I am serious I just honestly don't know which direction to go and I really just want to see how far I can push the SOHC, if this job works out I may just buy another lude and make this one my project car

however I have really been eyeing the H23

I currently have a USDM H22A1 and a USDM H23A1, in two seperate cars. Going to make one working car of the two.

Ultimately, I want to swap a K20A into my car and turbo it, but I'm contemplating rebuilding one of the current engines, maybe blue printing it.

But yeah, unsure what I'll do.

So, if you're drag racing and winning, what mods have you done to your F22?

currently I only run what I think I can win, I have had alot of close calls, like I was running a civic once and his tire blew right off the line, when I went back the next week I seen him run a 4.8l mustang and win....so ya, I lucked out on that one, but atm all it has is aftermarket chip, and a strait flex pipe no cats, thats it, but now we are talking about putting roller rockers in, and a new cam, along with what I said in the first post, just trying to find out whats best to do while you already have it apart, so I won't have to pull it again in a couple months hehe.

oh and just so no one misunderstands, a good 80% of the people down here that have modded cars, wont race, they just mod them for show, most people that race down here are either useing stock cars or very slightly modded, thats why I want to do this so bad, because it should be very easy to clean house haha (down here is southern Alabama)
