need crankshaft pulley, questions

I've been searching nonstop for a replacement crankshaft pulley, and it's hard to find one online. Most of the new OEM ones are just over $100, and there's an OEM on ebay for 65 shipped. It says it's for an f22a4, can that fit my h22a1?

I can't seem to find information anywhere on google about whether or not it can fit my engine. Anybody have any knowledge? Please and thankyou.

NO, it will not fit. I have a crank from a jdm h22 I took off. It's not perfect, but it will work. What's wrong with yours? I would buy the OEM from the dealer

Ya I tried searching eBay and the likes for pulleys and they want about 110 for a new OEM. I didn't want to go underdrive pulley mostly because I'm not too knowledgeable about their effects to the engine with being lightweight and all.

My boss at work is friends with a Honda dealer, so he can get me the part new for 50 bucks. I was told the tooth that goes to the pulley was sheared because of "racing" the car too much. Is that true? The car must have been abused from the last kid :/

It can get sheared off fromt normal wear and tear, I think. "racing" is just some BS they give you. OEM > * when it comes to parts

I just came across this website selling a crankshaft pulley for 65 bucks. It says for a 92-96 prelude 2.2L, but WITHOUT vtec. So wait now I'm confused. How does vtec alter the fitment between a 2.2L with, or without vtec?

And this is the part...

Honda Accord 1990 1991 1992 1993 Prelude 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 2.2L Harmonic Balancer - The Car Part Warehouse

the pulley should/will fit, BUT, the teeth on the belt (amount of ribs on the pulley) is different between vtec and non vtec

Ah I see, I figured it should have fit. So because the teeth on that are different, would getting a different belt to fit that offset my other pulleys? Like for the power steering and alternator?

the pulleys on the PS belt should be the same

the alt and a/c pulleys match the pulley on the vtec crank pulley.

get the OEM vtec pulley - can't go wrong.

Ya dude, I'm just gonna drop the cash for OEM lol, no sense taking the cheap way out if I want it done right.

It's funny how the shop I took my car to said 1200 bucks for parts and labor, but come to find out they didn't even LOOK at my car, and 'assumed' that I had screwed up my engine.

I had a Honda tech look at it...and said pulley is all I need

Needless to say they will no longer have my business

Thanks for the quick replies though man, I appreciate it.

Well, now a frightening new discovery.

I sheared my keyway. Well I don't understand that part of the engine much....so I did a little research.

I searched for hours trying to find a keyway....so apparently I can't?

I have to get a completely new crankshaft?

So if I have to get a new crankshaft....what ELSE do I need, because for some reason this little problem keeps getting more annoying.

Where the heck can I find a new crankshaft online? Just something OEM or even used...

you can get one from Honda. You can also find a used one from a motor in the parts classified section on this site. OR you can get a H23A1 crank and rods to make a super motor.

Is the keyway on the crank stripped? or just the little key itself? if it's just the key, get a new one

Ya dude it's sheared to a point, ha.

From halfway down the key back, it's still solid, just the tip that was in the pulley was sheared.

I'm assuming there was no damage to the crank, as I see no damage to the part of the key that was in the crank. A friend of mine said I was extremely lucky. As lucky as I can be I guess lol.

I found the parts on Majestic Honda's website. Are they trustworthy do you know? I've searched the forums for majestic honda, and the website, and there isn't anything.

SO if I may ask a late question, Did you say that the difference between a VTEC and non VTEC pulley is the number of ribs? 5 vs. 6?
