Is that a JDM H22? I think it might be the temp sensor on the thermostat housing (dosnt look like you have one)?

I know a lot of people (myself included) swap out a USDM thermostat housing/sensor when doing the JDM install. I just did it because I noticed the JDM engine didnt have it. But does that sensor feed to the ECU? Because if it's also a JDM ECU, why would it even be looking for a signal from whatever pin location that is? Or is there some other external fan control module that the temp sensors feed into?

Also, Jaydial, there are a few members currently offloading a bunch of OEM 4th gen parts, you should be able to pick up the threaded housing and sensor pretty easily and cheaply. You may ask Keith (username, uhhhhhh . . . "Keith") if he has one.

Yes it is a JDM H22, I didnt do the install, so that would make sense that shop that did it didnt swap it. They forgot a couple different things. Thanks i will look for a threaded housing.

Is it possible this sensor controls the radiator fan? It hasnt been coming on, so that is a little worrysome.

Thanks

The USDM housing from any f22/h23/h22 will bolt right up. The sensor is definitely in some way connected to the cooling system, but I'm not familiar enough with the entire system to know which sensor is doing what.

if you're using the JDM P13 it won't recognize that plug, as far as the cooling system goes, check fuses and do a search on here before you post a new thread.

not harsh, just informative. If he did start a new thread he would get flamed immediately because there's plent of information that is in old posts. I didn't mean for it to be mean...

I appreciate it. I have followed the Helms troubleshooter for the fan not coming on, and i havent found anything yet. I did read that the fan comes on after a temp sensors hits 220 i think, but not sure what sensor. I tested the fan with direct power and it comes on. Im thinking that i didnt test the relay correctly, and it needs to be replaced. Anyway this isnt the thread for that, and i will search for more tips.

I went to the shop, and they didnt have the engine anymore. So i guess since the JDM P13 doest recognize that sensor it doesnt matter anyway.

Thanks for everyones help!

Isnt there like a fan control module or something? I thought all of the ECT signals and whatnot fed into some external control unit and not the ECU. I could definitley be wrong though, as I havent looked over the diagrams in awhile. It just seems like for some reason, people with JDM H22 swaps frequently have overheating issues. Since thats really the only "cooling" realted difference in the JDM and USDM engine, it seems a likely culprit? Although I don't see how DISCONNECTING that sensor would help anything?
