My timing belt slipped...

I was going at about 60Kmh and I down shifted to second to make a turn. All of a sudden the car starts sounding like the whole exhaust came off and she was running really rough. As it turns out... the tensioner gave out and the belt slipped two teeth. I brought it to a Honda dealership and they told me it was an "electrical problem" and told me to come back in about a week. YES I DROVE THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS!!!

Now the timing belt, tension is replaced. I got the car back but it seems like the car just doesnt have the same pull in the lower RPMs. I replaced my plug wires, dist cap and rotor. It seems to have made things better. (I think)

Now my questions is... Are my valves bent for sure? Cause I was running on her for a couple of days. I got a couple of CELs too (fuel pressure). Is there any doubt that the engine has bent valves? It seems like its running okay. Should I get it checked?? Everyones opinion on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You need to diagnose the CEL first.

check the CEL, but under load, even at just 60kph, jumping timing can't be a good thing.

umm, did they do a compression test or leakdown? That sounds like my first test if i thought my valves had a problem. I check mine at least every 3000 miles.

Def. do a compression and/or leakdown test. You may have just bent one or two valves and so its not really noticeable except you don't have the pull down low. Does it still idle fine? Are there still CEL's??

thats exactly what im noticing no pull in the lower RPMs. No more CEL. So is it a bent valve for sure? if so... should I bring it back to honda? they told me there werent any bent ones.

only a compression test and leak test will tell at this point. I would say they may not be telling you the whole truth since they told you it was electrical and to come back. they would be responcible in a way if there were any bent valves...

It is possible them not telling the truth....afterall they try and coverup the fact there is a replacement auto tensioner cause of the old ones failing so often....and then there's the blessed SS woes. Which its funny....in both of these cases a manual is much better!
