I went to start it and all the dash light came on, just like normal, the antenna went up, just like normal.
I turned the key to start and thats when it died. No more dash lights, no headlights, no horn, no radio, even the antenna was stuck up. Like somebody had removed the battery mid-crank.
I thought, blown main fuse, nope, all fuses check good. While trying to start it/pounding on the steering wheel/screaming the gauges came back on, the radio came back on, like it was working. Went to crank it and it all died again. But the antenna went all the way down, it needs power to do that.
No more power to anything, the battery is good, no blown fuses. WTF?
Any ideas? Which relays should I check? I dont have my shop manual with me right now
I had to replace my main relay on my 92 lude because sometimes i would go out to start it and nothing woul happen. Wait a few minutes and then it would start right up. It gradually happened more and more often untill finally it would never start.

Same with me. Especially since you recently put in the jdm. Then when I read its working fine I realized it would have been better dead then you could donate the motor to me.
the proper method is to get out of the car, calmly make sure the battery is connected, get back in, and drive away.
The battery was never disconnected, I check the terminals, everything was good, even tried to jump it with the Miata. Nothing. Like the battery was missing, no voltage at all.
A few hrs later I went out too work on it, and it started right up. My radio was reset and my clock lost some time.

I have no idea what happened.
You really should take care of that headlight.

I had that problem with a Nissan 240SX at one time and had it towed to a shop. They fixed it for like $40. I knew nothing of cars then (not that I'm an expert now) but I believe it had something to do with a short in the wiring, maybe to the starter. They just fixed it and I didn't think to ask how.
When the key was in accessory the stereo and everything worked fine, but when you turned it to start, I'd guess it would draw current and maybe it just went straight to ground or something, but anyway it would not turn over and all the accessories would go off. Then when I turned back to accessory, it took a few seconds for them to come back on. As I recall it required NO parts to fix and was just a wiring problem.

Sounds like you may have a short somewhere, possibly corrosion? If you have the money to have someone check it out (or if you can do it yourself), take a voltmeter to it, and trace out some of the wiring.
