My plans for an LCD behind the dash...

Here is a pic with some quick measurements of the dash:

I am wondering if there is some kind of LCD that would fit in that area. If I have to, I would relocate the clock dial.

Can someone please help me out?

This has been discussed before i think. You have to move your gauge cluster to the right about 5"

PM socalifludesi... he has a tiny 4" screen on the passenger side that looks really nice. You can't tell that its there when it is off.

If you want it like j92s has it, then you have to cut out the guage cluster (the one with the fuel, temp meter, and lights) and move it over, and then secure it in place somehow.

Good Luck...

Search on SoundDomain, there's a 1995 Prelude that has the Sony PSone LCD (a 5" screen, but it seems like you may be able to cram in a 5.5" LCD) in that same location, with a few pics of the cluster moved over to the side. This is something I'm seriously considering for use with another project I'm devising.

Im working on the same project currently. As for moving everything over that wont be a problem. I have been looking for a BASIC LCD with NO frills but everyone locally sells only ones with all the misc options. Im going to a discount audio video show tommorow in long beach. Im hoping to find a 5.7, 5.8 whatever i can find in that area. I really wanted a 6 inch but i hear they dont make that size. once i get the LCD all in then i will worry about the video source later. no biggie. Keep me posted on what you guys do and how much. Im doing my car and my wifes accord hopefully in the next 2 weeks.

How hard is it to move the fuel/engine guages to the right? I mean, how will it position in the spot. How does the clock fit any everything.

Who makes the 5.6"? I have only seen 5.8" but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. Sony makes this nice LCD screen that I think I might buy:

I found it on ebay for only $214.

Here is a quick picture of the LCD screen:

what did you have the power of the lcd hooked up to? when you turned the car on did the lcd go on right away or was it hooked up to something (switch) so that it didnt use power unless it was being used...i am thinking about getting a Pyle indash radio/dvd player and hooking it up to the lcd...pyle is the same as Blaupunkt mostly so how did yours work when you werent using the dvd?

I found a nice 5.6" LCD on Parts Express...here is the link:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...number=205-018

Right now it's only $110! Better hurry though, cuz it goes back to $169.88 on Dec. 30, 2002. But yeah, this looks like it would be perfect for a behind-the-dash project.

Here are a few pics of it:

Yeah, it would but I dunno if that would be advisable. Seeing how there are buttons and whatnot on the VAFC, you wouldn't be able to press them when it's behind the dash.

ok let me get this straight...when the lcd is in the dash, you dont cut the plastic out you just take out the plastic and move the gas/temp over and place the lcd there without cutting a hole in the plastic...if you do this will there be a glare off of the plastic or at night will it give the lcd a dark tint because the plastic is infront of it?
