My Lude Randomly Dies

My car has been doing this since I first bought it. I'll be driving it and all of the sudden, it just shuts off. It doesn't make noises or anything when it does it. It doesn't have a CEL on either.

I kinda think it might be because it needs a new air filter. Do these sound like the symptoms of needing a new air filter? Many Thanks in advance to some sound advice.

Haha, if you think it may be the air filter, and you have yet to change said filter, get a new filter! Otherwise, random dying could be a slew of different issues. I would think maybe some fouling to your plugs, air issues (any CEL's), fuel supply issues. If your injectors get clogged, no gas will reach the combustion chamber, and car no go nowhere. Sounds like a tune up to include; plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, fuel filter, air filter would be a good bet. If you find that your plugs are covered in oil from the top side, replace your valve cover gasket and seals. If your plugs are moist with oil on the ingnition side, you may want to do your piston rings. These are all common issues with these cars, so consider yourself quite fortunate if you haven't had to do these maintenance procedures to date, and have been able to drive without major issue. Start with a tune up, if there are no CEL's, if you have a CEL get the code, and fix the problem called out. Good luck.
