I would also say that I am 95% sure it's your clutch. Hmmm, sounds like you should get a clutch that comes with a VTEC motor...

BUT- If you are just going to get the new clutch, I recommend going to www.clutchcityonline.com. There, you can get a brand-spankin' new Exedy clutch that comes with everything you need for only $111.00.

No such thing as a "cheap fix" on a clutch. You might be able to get a clutch disc for a little cash, but the labor is going to be $200+ at least. Most shops are $250-$300. Are you willing to drop "$400" as a cheap fix? That's 1/4 of that motor you wanted.

Just a thought.

Oh, and you should replace it soon, otherwise it'll go out completely and you'll be stuck revving by your lonesome on the side of the road. Never cool with the ladies.

hhahaha my clutch completly exploded into "a zillion pieces" says the mechanic guy... but it was the other way around for me... when mine went out it left the tranny and engine continuously linked, pushing in the clutch pedal did nothing.... i had to drive 45 min to the next town to get it fixed... my dad ran front for me and rolled up really slow to the red lights so by the time i got there it was green.... lol i learned the benefits of rev-matching that day

the people at modacar.com said that if i brought a clutch in with the h22a (to be swapped) they would install the clutch for $40.
what kind of clutch should i get? i want one that can withstand alot of racing but also be a good daily driver i was thinking act stage 3 or something but are exedy clutches good?

$40? Damn, they must be seriously into S&M. LOL That's torture for $40.

I have a clutchmasters stage 3 disc with an ACT Extreme PP.

If you get an ACT extreme pressure plate, be prepared to hate yourself the first time you get in traffic.

Exedy is nice from what I hear, ACT is cool. I've heard of people happy with Clutch Specialties. I liked my Clutch masters, but VeeTec didn't like his, it burned up VERY quickly. :P Like I said, I'm still on my CM stage three disc.

the original cost would be $350 but if i had it installed with the new engine it would only be $40

so if i buy the CM stage 3 it should come with everything i need?

Should come with everything you need. Throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch disc etc.

Talk to VeeTec first before you order, he might have some alternate advice for you. Warren had a bad experiece,
Mine was a good one though.

I do not recommend the stage 3 CM. Both of mine were short lived.

got my new clutch today, but didnt get a performance one.
I'm still planning on getting my h22a so..... hopefully soon.
It is a lot different though, the throughout bearing is shorter and i have to push alot less to disengage the clutch....it will take a little getting used to

i have 103000 on my prelude right now but the clutch doesnt slip or anything right now. the only thing i was concerened about is that it releases so close to the floor. is this a sign of it about to go out? it still hooks up really good for now though. btw, is that Exedy on clutchcityonline.com for $111 a good clutch? im thinking about going ahead and buying it because its so cheap. i'm guessing the OEM clutch is more.

It's not $111, it's $299 but that's with free shipping too so it's still a pretty good deal. Exedy is a big manufacturer of clutches in Japan and makes a good product... I'm probably going to get one myself when my original OEM clutch decides to go.
