Haven't touch that for a while, I'm kinda short on money lately and I have to pass the inspection this month and my rear brake are just gone so it might be a while before I can continue on this but when I'll have something new I'll keep you guys updated, don't worry!
Well guys I know it's been a long time but winter is finally starting to go away and I have a long weekend to work on the car so it's in the school's mechanic shop right now. Just to let you guys know what's the plan for the weekend, here it is:
- Remove dash
- Remove front bumper
- Drain coolant
- Remove heater unit
- Find a way to mount the air mix motor on the heater unit
- Re-assemble heater unit
- Re-assemble dash
- Install fog lights on bumper
- Re-install bumper
That's about what it's gonna be. Maybe not exactly in this order though. We already removed the dash and we started to get the bumper off but the helm isn't really that clear here and those clips are a pita when the bolts are rusted with them. Also note that unless you're installing fog light at the same time you do not need to remove the bumper
I should probably add a step somewhere called vacuuming and cleaning the mess of wires.
go pre did a good job of mounting the air/mix motor. i just did what he did. ill try and find a picture of what mine looks like. glad to hear your starting it again. good luck!
Yeah I've seen how go pre mounted his. Though the thing is I don't have a JDM air mix motor and it's a bit different so I'm not sure it will mount the same way.
I got a question for ya regarding the compressor clutch engagement/disengagement... I don't know if this is right but after analyzing the JDM and USDM circuit diagram side by side I came up with this:
Wires that goes to thermostat:
BLU/YEL -from AC pressure switch
BLU/RED -from AC switch on the USDM control panel/heater control
Connection:
1. Cut the BLU/YEL wire from the thermostat and connect it to #1 BLU/YEL wire on JDM 20 pin connector. Basically you'll be connecting the BLU/YEL wire from the pressure switch to #1 BLU/YEL wire.
2. Leave the BLU/RED wire connected to the thermostat and connect the other end on #9 BRN wire on JDM 20 pin connector. So basically BLU/RED from thermostat to BRN on JDM 20 pin.
3. By doing #1 there's now 1 unused pin on the thermostat, now run a wire from that to #17 LT GRN/RED wire on JDM 20 pin connector (also LT GRN/RED wires from inside, outside and sunlight sensor are connected here).
Did I get it right? With that connection, I believe the climate control can now engage/disengage the compressor clutch.
You won't be using the thermostat at all, I just removed it and put the evaporator temp sensor where is was. What I did, I just cut the 2 wires going to the thermostat and connected them together. The thing is the thermostat just opens the circuit if the evaporator gets too cold so the A/C clutch disengages. The evaporator temp sensor sends the temp of the evaporator to the unit and the unit can then make the A/C clutch disengage if the temp is too low. If you want to keep the thermostat you can just leave it as is but I don't know if A/C will engage without the evaporator temp sensor.
So on the JDM evaporator unit, instead of the thermostat on our cars, it's replaced by the evaporator temp sensor? You have any pics of it? I need that sensor then. Do you know where to buy just that part?
do you have all 4 speeds working on the CC? mine only does none or full. very annoying. BTW, my airmix motor burnt out. need to replace it sometime next week. didnt have it lined up right from the start i guess and it was working too hard. looks like the dash is coming back out.

Sweet! Just make sure you don't leave your followers in the dark once everything is fully functional We all depend on you and go pre BTW I just need to install the evaporator sensor then I'm all set. That JDM circuit diagram was really a big help.

Yes I have all speeds working. I just finished the wiring for my air mix motor (I got one from a 99 Accord) but I guess I haven't lined it up right either cause it only turned a bit when I went to full cold and then haven't moved at all since. I guess I'll have to play a bit with it or try to get a JDM air mix motor. It seems so much easier with the JDM air mix motor. Also why do you need to remove the dash? It looks like it could be swapped with the dash still in place. At least I'm pretty sure I could remove mine without removing the dash now that I know how it works under there.
I finally finished hooking up everything and the blower works at diff speeds. AC compressor also engages/disengages at a touch of a button. I'm very happy now that my climate control is fully functional. So I went for a drive on the freeway and on the way back my blower would only work at full speed or none and the AC compressor won't engage anymore. Now I'm pissed off, I just hope that it's just some loose wires. Looks like its time to take out the center console again.
