I did by the way use ALL JDM parts I had thought about using sensors and motors from the acura cl but I wanted it entirely JDM and every part of it functions exactly like the jdm unit , however I chose to remote mount the air mix motor and actuate the flaps by cable instead. I am using all the JDM sensors and motors and the hot water valve as well. I can run the self diagnosis function on the unit with out getting any of the trouble indicator lights. When I first did this about 2 years ago there wasnt any wiring diagrams around it was a total mystery I had to figure it all out by looking at my stock unit and studying the circuit board of the JDM unit and then testing with a meter and power supply to figure out what wire did what, you guys got it easy today! lol Its still one of my most favorite mods
Yeah I have all JDM parts too except the power transistor and blower motor high relay, I wanted to try using some USDM parts at first so they would be easier to get but it didn't work out that well. And I finally found someone with all the JDM parts I needed. I thought about using a cable for the air mix motor too but I kept that as plan C I wouldn't have done this without the wiring diagrams, I actually had them and made a new wiring diagram with modifications to make before I had the unit itself. I don't know much about electronics, when you start talking about transistors and the like you lose me, I don't even know how to tell which way the current flows in a diode by looking at the symbol I'm just glad that I'll be finish with this project soon, I've been working on this for quite some time and I paid way more than I should have...

My Write Up is in my head, lol When I first did the install was when the old Hondaprelude.com site was going strong and I would get at least 4 emails a day about the climate control it was crazy, I would have over a hundred emails by the end of the month and it never let up, I just got so tired of it I just deleted them, the attention was nice but to much attention gets bothersome . this was when everybody thought all you had to get was the unit itself and you just pluged it in and it worked, lol. I had actually posted a thread that said "Warning JDM Climate Control read this before you buy" It went into some detail as to how many additional parts and how labor intensive it was and if your not really mechanicly and electricaly inclined that they would be better off passing this mod over.
I have done a few of these now and everytime I mean to take pics but always forget or I just want to get it done. I have a friend that im going to do the jdm install in his prelude so maybe ill take some pics and do a write up then or maybe I should just make a video that would be easier for everybody probably and would have more detail. So If you guys want a video of the JDM Climate control let me know and if there is still enough interest I can make one on the next car I convert so let me know what you guys think . I hate to be the party pooper here though but I would be a little more inclined to do this and go into greater detail if there was $ involved lol, so maybe let me know what a fair price for the video would be that you guys would be willing to spend, Im not trying to get rich here but my time is worth money and I can get pretty busy sometimes and Im trying to finish my lude for the magazine feature so extra cash is always welcome.

to me.

My dash has always rattle a lot, I'll have to check out if there's some screw missing somewhere... I just installed it this morning so I could drive the car today but I'm taking it out again tonight cause I still have a few things to do and I think I screwed up my blower's wiring when I redid it to hide the wires near the main harness. And I still have to wire the sensors. Should be done this weekend!

there's a rectangular aluminum sensor or something next to my air mix motor that has a pink and a ltgrn/red wire coming out of it, there's also a pink wire coming out of my control unit that's not featured in the wiring diagram, so i assume the pink wire should connect to that one.
does anyone know what this thing is for and whether i should connect it and where??

can you post a pic of the sensor? Normaly the Pink wire on the unit does not get used , however the wiring on the climate control had a revision in the later years, post a pic of the sensor so I know which one your talking about for sure.

You know, I was thinking about that sensor. I remember you posting a pic of it a while ago. Is it possible that it is a "final temperature sensor"? Like the CC knows how cold the evaporator is and how hot the outside air is but maybe that is used as a final measurement.

Just a thought...

I searched and in an older post by go pre it says it goes into the heater core, but he says on the USDM there is no mount for this, so i think i'll ignore it too for now...unless someone knows for sure how it's mounted, since most of you haven't used it anyways..
I tried to post the pic but i can't find a way to, how do u guys post pics?
if you go to this thread it is in the third pic:

Well I just finished my install, finally! Well almost finished, the climate control install is done but I still have a few plastic panels to re-install. I went for a little 5 minutes ride to check that it worked okay and it seems fine. Though I haven't checked A/C yet since my system is empty and my compressor isn't connected. I'll update the write-up very soon!

Bertico78: I believe it's a sensor for the heater core but I'm not sure either. If you wanted to install it, you'd need to make a hole in the heater unit under the heater core. I thought about installing it but I decided not to in the end.

Congrats Jean !! I am almost done with my install too....taking a little break now....the blower and the air mix motor work perfectly You are the MAN!!!

I'm just having trouble finding the Vehicle Speed sensor(VSS) to connect that orange wire to. Is it all that necessary that i do so?
If it is, where is it??? lol

One last thing, can anyone post pics or explain exactly how the air mix motor gets mounted with the USDM air mix cable?? I have yet to figure out where or how to place it so the cable doesn't bend too much over to the side.....

I didn't hook up the VSS wire... I don't know if it matters or not...

I just thought of something, since the VSS connects to the speedometer, it's the #5 (orn)wire going into harness H in the gauge cluster, so i could just tap into there, right?

I just tapped into the VSS wire at the ECU. It is the org wire down there too.

still not fully done just run into two problems......one, the air mix motor only opens the heater doors halfway, that's while using the USDM cable.

Second, when i press the AC button the fans in front of the engine do not engage, could that be because the evaporator and blower are still not back in the car??

When you clip the cable make sure you have the motor at full hot or full cold and the heater doors at the same place.

Since the evaporator is not in the car it could well be it. I don't think the compressor will engage if there's no pressure in the A/C system. So I'm thinking that if the compressor doesn't engage, maybe the A/C fan won't either...

yes the doors and the motor were aligned, at full cold, i secured the cable sleeve to the motor so that when it's fully pulled (for coldest setting) there is no space between the sleeve and the cable, but it doens't pull any further. when i set the unit for 32 degrees it will feed some cable, but not enough to fully open the doors, could this also be because the sensor doen't allow it to make it any hotter since in miami it's hot all the time??
