I was curious, do any of you know if the climate control unit on a '99 Acura CL would work in our cars? The unit looks similar in size and everything so I thought that if it did, it might be an easier swap. Sorry if this has been mentioned already somewhere else... thanks.

I think I've seen somewhere that the unit is not exactly the same size so it might not fit but even if it was the same size it wouldn't be easier since it's not wiring the unit that's the biggest problem it's the rest.
If everything goes well I should be able to update the write-up this weekend.
Are you guys still trying to figure out the climate control?!! Ive had mine working in my car for over 2 years now , and installed a few of them too, the ones I do FULLY FUNCTION the way they are suposed too. I will do the install for $300 labor + whatever parts that your missing.
In case anyone was curious, mine is now 100% functional (as opposed to 99%). I replaced the backlight in the defroster button so it now works perfectly.
The install is rather extensive, I would say comparable to an engine swap, I did remove my dash for it though. In case you didn't see my other thread I was able to install the evap sensor without draning the A/C though. I did it just like I said I would, black taped it to the straightened coathanger, drilled a hole in the evap housing, and fed it through.
I love this thing, especially the auto function. I don't use the A/C unless I am on the freeway though (A/C+ES motor mounts=too much vibration).
Good luck to all who attempt this and do post questions, we are here to help
Ok, i'm starting to wrap this project up....got the parts needed, most of my wiring is set (Thanks Jean!!), I just need to know what to do with the other wire that comes from each of the sensors, aside from the ones that hook on to the contol unit...anybody?
thanks.... now, should they all be spliced in the 17th pin in the JDM 20-pin connector or just hooked onto any black wire? Or does it make a difference? Thanks again
Well guys friday I started disassembling the car's interior, didn't do much friday since the bugs were after me. So saturday dash was out of the car for the second time this summer, then we had to clean up the garage before I could get the car in. So sunday got the car in the garage, removed the evaporator, blower unit, drained the coolant and we got stuck cause we didn't have a 12mm deep socket to remove the 2 bolts that holds the heater unit (the 2 bolts under the hood). So this morning I got a 12mm deep socket and when I got back from work I removed the heater unit.
I'm now at the point were I have to attach the air mix motor to the heater unit and I need a picture of a JDM heater unit with the air mix and all control cable attached to it. Anybody happen to have one?
Also for people who wired it already and the air mix motor was working the wrong way did switching the wires do the trick?
look on the temp sensor where the wires come out of it they should be labled 1 and 2 the number 2 goes to the unit and the number 1 goes to ground, it doesnt really matter though because the sensor is just a resistor and it doesnt have polarity so it will work either way. The sunlight sensor is the only sensor that the polarity maters on.
thanks caz...sorry to be asking so many questions..i'm so close to finishing this project without any prior knowledge on this type of thing.
I still have two wires left i don't know what to do with..
The blu/yel from the 20-pin, that's supposed to go to the ac pressure switch, should i connect it to the wire that used to connect to the ac thermistor, now replaced by the evaporator sensor?
And the brown/black wire to the heater valve solenoid, what do i do with it if i kept the original heater valve in the car?

Yes you should connect it to the wire that use to go to the A/C thermostat.

If you kept the original valve just don't connect that wire.
Well I put the heater back in with the air mix motor attached to it and working well (and the right way) I'll update my write-up very soon, this weekend at the most, maybe I'll do a small update tonight though.

Wasn't that hard, just takes a lot of time. I wanted to put it where it's mounted on the JDM heater unit but I would've got the reverse temp problem. So that was plan B and it seems to work pretty well. How did you mount yours?
Well nobody can say that you werent determined! lol This is probably gonna bum you out but I installed mine in about 3 hours. You didnt need to take your entire car apart! I did by the way use ALL JDM parts I had thought about using sensors and motors from the acura cl but I wanted it entirely JDM and every part of it functions exactly like the jdm unit , however I chose to remote mount the air mix motor and actuate the flaps by cable instead. I am using all the JDM sensors and motors and the hot water valve as well. I can run the self diagnosis function on the unit with out getting any of the trouble indicator lights. When I first did this about 2 years ago there wasnt any wiring diagrams around it was a total mystery I had to figure it all out by looking at my stock unit and studying the circuit board of the JDM unit and then testing with a meter and power supply to figure out what wire did what, you guys got it easy today! lol Its still one of my most favorite mods
