This usually happens when the weather is colder. I never noticed it before I did my engine swap. It usually happens right when I start my car and it's really loud. I thought it was my alternator belt until I replaced it just today and yet it still squeals. The noise usually stops when the engine begins to reach higher temperatures. Anyone know what could be causing this annoying problem?

Also, I did notice that when I changed the belt that my A/C compressor's pulley is really easy to turn. It's not loose or out of place, it just turns much easier than the others.
most likely its a leak in your power steering...that was the problem i had, its not that the sound goes away when the car warms up, but as you turn the wheel you bleed the system to get any air out that got into it from the leak. do you notice the sound when you turn the wheel right when you start up? if not i am way off but thats what was wrong with my car and i fixed it a few days ago and the problem went away. check it out and get back to us.
It's probably the timing belt whine, I got one after getting my tb/water pump replaced...a lot of other people have it as well. Pretty much every 4th gen vtec I've seen has it around here.
i'm pretty sure that you know how tight your belts should be, but usually when it's a loud squeal coming from that side of the engine it's either a loose alternator/ac belt or power steering belt. your helms manual tells you how much deflection you should have when putting those belts back on.
my ac belt was squeeking, so I changed it, but i now notice this other, more annoying squeek. I noticed the pump was leaking p/s fluid (I loosened one of the bolts when I was taking off the belts), so i think air might have got in. I locked the screw back in but its still making the noise. But i think it has to do with the pump.
This annoying squeek only comes out when the car starts, or if I"m around 1.5-2k RPMs

I dont think the TB is the issue because yours, mine, and josh (92h22a) all do this months after the tb change. Its got to have something to do with something else taken off or changed during the tb install though.
The pump is a possiblity for me because i did leak a lot of fluid out and never bled the system (if you can).

ah, damn, well let me know if you guys find out wtf it is, I hope the belt isn't rubbing on something and wearing it down...
Well for me, just happened to be that my ac/alt belt wasnt tight enough..So I re-did it and now i get no noise

the worst for me was when i had my 2nd gen, and in cold weather (if anyone can figure out why, I'm still curious lol) when the car started moving, and until it warmed up and it had been driven for about 15-20 minutes, it would make a "chirp-chirp-chirp..." sound which sounded like it came from right behind the guage cluster. It started slow at slow speeds and sped up to almost a uniform "squeeeeeeeeeeeeel" at highway speeds ... I don't know what the hell it was, but I'm just so glad to be rid of that car. The 87 DX was like the disease for which a fuel injected 4th gen is the cure
