my car overheating

i have a 95 si
i just put a jdm h23 in it because the other one blew
but after we did the swap
my car's been overheating
what it was doing was that the fans didn't turn on when it overheated. so i fixed that by changing the fan switch and the temp sensor but now the fans turn on but not right after the temp gauge read over half way. i mean b4 we did the swap, my guages never went over the half way but now it goes over for like few seconds and then the fan turns on. I was wondering if anyone had this problem b4 or knows how to fix it. I heard there's another swich that goes under the radiator? any suggestions??? please?

oh and also, i'm selling parts from my old h23 engine. ;

Wait, so does the temp gauge ever go past the half way mark? They way I'm reading your post, you're saying that the temp gauge gets to half way, then stays there, taking a couple minutes to turn the fans on. As long as the temp gauge never goes over half way, it's fine.

no the temp gauge goes over the half way. sometimes the fan comes on few seconds after the gauge goes over half way but sometimes it doesn't turn on at all even when it goes all the way to the redline.

The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant through your engine. It closes to stop the flow when it wants the engine to warm up. And opens to let coolant flow when it wants the engine to cool down. It's a $20 part that's extreemly easy to change.

All you need to do is remove your lower radiator hose at the point where it connects to your engine block.

Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the thermostat housing cover.

Pop out the old one and pop in the new one with gasket.

If that doesn't work then you may have an air bubble in your cooling system and you'll need to bleed or burp it.

your temp gauge should not be gettin above the half mark
