That's terrible to see something like that...and i hope your ok. This accident may not have been a cause of speeding but I think everybody needs to realize that even if you have a need for speed be safe or you'll end up dead, injuried, or with a beautiful car that's smashed to bits....

Thanks for the responses folks.

In the long and short of it all my tires were bald as hell (new one sitting at home just didn't have time to put them on) my abs was disabled since last year due to a bad wheel sensor and the very bottom line which could have prevented this all was speed...

It IS going to be branded by insurance like phatz said, so I am not too sure what's going to happen yet. All I know it's a total loss. They have not stepped up to the plate with any offers yet, and I am going to buy it back FOR SURE! Can't let this engine end up in the hands of insurance. It's still not even broken in yet!

More pictures...

http://www.photoloft.com/view/Album....5786&a=1304102

Again like most everyone said my GF and I were ok, so that's the main thing.

The next car...I want a Supra TT.. but I am looking at late 60's and 70's muscle cars, MKIII supra turbo, last gen RX-7.. a lot of things. But JUST looking now, I will probably end up rebuilding my car.

If I didn't would anyone be interested in my engine? Here are the specs: Check out the engine specs

MAN... thats gotta hurt... but I don't see why it can't be rebuilt.

How much did they quote you on the damage ? Sometimes these insurance a**holes say its cheaper $$$ to pay you off than to fix it. Its all about money and nothing else.

BTW, who did the rebuild on the motor ?

Just get the cash from the insurance company and buy your car back from them... They sell it back to the owner cheap.. something like $100. Fix it with the money the gave you + some of your own $$ to get the car back on the road.

My body shop quoted around $8K to get it back on the road. This is with some new, some used, some aftermarket parts.

Insurance quoted 11K. But I think this is because they work with all new parts.

I am FOR SURE going to buy it back, I would be crazy not to. I could easily part everything for some good cash. Pretty much everything was done on this car, it was a project that went on for 3 years and took a lot of my time. That is something I cannot get back.

Again I still don't know what I am doing, I know FOR SURE I won't be swapping my goodies into a 5th gen! I have been looking at the early 70's muscle cars for the past week. Mmmmm.. 426 Hemi!! :P

Hopefully insurance will give me an offer tomorrow and it's something nice. BTW I have been told that for salvage costs a Prelude is considered a premium vehicle and buy back will cost 15-20% of the value of the car (not including my aftermarket stuff)

Best thing is buy it back, and sell the stuff, if you rebuild it, its not going to be the same, the whole frame is tweaked.

Get as much money possible out of the car, they go put that money into a new car... how about a WRX

If insurance quoted you 11K, then they MUST consider the value of your car to be at less than $11K (probably book value) otherwise they would have fixed it.

I don't know what a regular 93 SRV goes for, but you can be sure thats what they'll offer you on a payout (they ignore all the aftermarket stuff)

15% of the value on a buyback !! Man!! these guys gouge left right and center

They'll probably quote you around 2 grand. That's what Cali Prelude was told it would cost to buy his back after it was totalled.

Yes Canadian Redbook rates the car at low $6000 and High $8800. mg: Talk about BS or what???

But they payout based on the area you live in the km's and what the vehicle is being sold on the used market. Plus if the damage with within a couple of thousand of what the vehicle is worth it's is pretty stupid to repair it if you think about it. The structure of the car is questionable and they don't want to be liable for further repairs or the safety of the car.

Your right... on a buyback, you're the one who has to certify it before it goes on the road again.

BTW, I saw your email late last night...can't get to it from work..restricted website. I'll send something later tonight from home.
