My burnt up clutch.

Pics: http://www.vipastyle.com/96VTEC/imag.../12-24-03.html

I replaced my clutch the other day with an OEM replacement (not enough cash for aftermarket).

Thought you guys would wanna see it. There were grease chunks and metal filings everywhere. My car feels sooooo much more powerful now. Before I couldn't chirp in 2nd but now I chirp in 3rd with no effort. Now I can feel the Prelude's true power. As you can see there are no pads on the plate. This thing was done.

haha, well how was the break in? b/c that sounds exactly like what you're doing

that doesn't look too bad compared... just go do 25+ 1340's, 3 20min sessions on a kart track and some nice tray slidding.... and your new one will be turned to uhm... nothing

I've got about 30 miles on the clutch so far which is what the guy at the shop said was enough.

The clutch was slipping when I first bought the car. I knew I would eventually have to replace it. But yea I just wanted to see what it felt like. Yea... so it's great having a new clutch.

Man I hope your mechanic thought you said 300 miles not 30. If he did mean 30 I suggest you get a new mechanic. Seriously, f*cking 30 miles? I could drive 30 miles in 5th gear once I'm on the highway, you think that's going to break in a clutch?

DAMN!!!!! 30 miles!?!??! i took it super easy on mine for 700 miles. and i think i had to go for 1000. 30 miles... i bet your mechanic told you that so he could have more work to do i didn't shift past 4k when i was breakin in my clutch, so if you are chirping any gear you are driving way too hard.

lol. I'm gonna ***** him out for sure tomorrow. He's a good friend so I know he wasn't doing it to get more business, he was probably just misinformed about clutch break-in. Thank god for PreludeOnline.

Jason,
It was replaced with an OEM replacement from an auto parts store. The company that manufactured the replacement is called Rhino and they seem to make a lot of different OEM replacement parts.

The problem with the car is most likely just my axle slipped out. I thought there was something wrong with the clutch but after overgoing the problems its not. I'm relieved but still mad the mechanic told me 30 miles. Merry Christmas everyone!

Dude, nothing beats mine. I was driving back from LAX, in the tunnel, when I went to shift from 2nd to 3rd. The shifter wouldn't go into 3rd, and the pedal felt REAL rough. All the way home, I had to shift into gear luckily. A week later, I take my car to a "honda specialist" near my house. Thank GOD I had an RPS stage 3 sprung hub max, 6-puck clutch and Fidanza fw just sitting in my closet. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT ON MY CAR, besides the Recaro SRD seats w/ Takata harness...

pussy magnet,
J
