msd ignition setup

I have purchased a msd 6a ignition box and an external blaster coil. Will these work together, because some guy at autozone said that I would need to buy an sci to make it work on my car, and that the coil is the wrong one. Can someone please tell me what parts I need to have a complete ignition system. I would like to use the 6a if possible. Thanks
