Motor Questions - USDM/JDM H22

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering, from 92-96 did Canada or the U.S have any Preludes built with the H22A motor? Was the H22 an option in North America? I've seen many imported 92 Preludes with the stock H22A motor and i'm wondering if the same motor was available in NA?

Depending on the above answer, the answers to these may vary.

How can I get parts for the JDM H22A motor from the dealership? I thought the H22 came available in the next generation 97 and up. If so, are all of the parts interchanagable with the 92 JDM H22 motor?

Does the JDM H22A take premium fuel only? 91 octane? What type of oil does it take?

Does anyone know of the torque specs of the JDM H22A? Spark Plugs, oil drain plug, fuel filter bolt.

Thanks all

Actually, I already did a portion of this research.

I'm wondering, from 92-96 did Canada or the U.S have any Preludes built with the H22A motor?

No.

Was the H22 an option in North America?

Yes, well in a 4th gen H22A1.

I've seen many imported 92 Preludes with the stock H22A motor and i'm wondering if the same motor was available in NA?

If if it was imported from outside of North America then it's possible. If it came from North American 92's never came with a H22A1 stock or any H22 for that matter.

How can I get parts for the JDM H22A motor from the dealership?

You can't get JDM parts from the dealership.

I thought the H22 came available in the next generation 97 and up. If so, are all of the parts interchanagable with the 92 JDM H22 motor?

You thought wrong. Most of the parts interchangeable.

Does the JDM H22A take premium fuel only?

Yes. You can use regular or plus but it won't run correctly.

91 octane?

Yes unless you have 93 you can use that too.

What type of oil does it take?

10w30 or 5w30.

Does anyone know of the torque specs of the JDM H22A? Spark Plugs, oil drain plug, fuel filter bolt.

Not off the top of my head. If you need them get a Helms manual.

There is a shell near my house that has 90 rated premium.. while we are on the topic is that high enough for the car to run normally.

Thanks Kronn,

spin, do you know if I can order parts at the dealer for a CDM 92 SR-V H22A1 and use them on a 92 JDM H22A? For eg, oil filter and all tune up components?

Thanks
