Motor oil weight?

OK, got around 160k miles on my 92 Si and was wondering what weight oil you guys would recommend, 5w-30 or 10w-30?
Live in Texas so it wont be getting cold anytime soon.

5W-30 would give you a little more hp and better gas mileage. However with your mileage and being in Texas you could make a good case for the thicker 10w-30. I am sticking with 5w-30 on my wife's CL with 156k miles, but run 10W-30 in my track only Prelude.

What could be the downside to running 5w-30 instead of 10w-30 in the summer with high mileage?

Unless you autocross or trackyour car, and assuming everything on your car is working properly, I would say there is no downside of using 5W-30 in your Prelude.

I run 5W-30 in the colder months, and 10W-30 when it starts to warm up (like now). I have 160,000 miles on my original H23.
