Motor Oil to use on a fresh rebuild.

Hey guys I just recently finished my JDM H22A swap into my 93 Si. I am very cautious on what kind of engine oil I should use for the first start. Ive heard that its better to use regular oil to just break in the engine for the first 1000 miles and then do a half synthetic, half normal oil change, and then full synthetic after that. If what ive heard is bs than what would be the safest and best type of oil to use. Im planning on maybe starting it this weekend. Thanks for all input.

I honestly don't see why you can't just use a full synthetic from the start. I've read cases for both sides but most newer high end cars come with full synthetic now.

You should be fine doing it the way you described or just putting in full syn and driving.

If you're thinking it helps clean out things or extra shavings or something like that...if it's that big, you've got problems.

The brand "Torco" makes a highly regarded engine break-in oil that you use for the first... 500 miles I think.

Then after that, I think it's up to you whatever oil you want to put in after that, I vote synthetic.

If you just swapped the motor, isn't the engine already used and broken in?
