motor mounts question

Well, I keep breaking the damn header hanger. I just broke my second one. This time I took it to a muffler shop and they said I don't need the thing so it's gone now. But my question is... It sounds like I've got bad motor mounts. I did notice one day when my engine was first started it moved quite a bit. How do you tell if they are bad? And has anyone had these replaced? How much should it cost? thanks. Oh, this is on a 95 vtec.

The HAsport solid polyurethane rear mount makes a big difference, there is almost no movement from my engine at all, and it is less prone to wheelhop. The only downside is my dash vibrates at idle, and if you bog the motor. The price is pretty steep though--around $160.

the rear mount alone is $160? I have the HyperFlex engine mounts the 2 torque bushings. I want a rear one too tho. but damn $160. where can I get info?

I put the red polyurethane inserts front and back for about 30 for the pair. From energy dynamics, I think. They are working great and you are right the idle shakes the dash and steering wheel.

it's pricey beacuse it's the entire mount, not an insert. Goto www.hasport.com for info.

what sound does itmake when your motormounts are cracked?

I got a new sound... it sounds like a damn hooptie! and i don't think its exhuast.. doesnt sound like any noise ive had from my car. It does it when i am at like 2-3k rpm's and dump it in any gear.. it is like "clunk clunk clunk" sound mixed with "nock nock nock" (if you can picture those 2 sounds simultaneously) it's wierd.. im hoping its exhuast. How hard is it to change out the motormounts? (assuming you gotta lift the engine?)

noise?

so there is a specific noise associated with broken motor mounts. If so mine are fine because I don't hear any strange noises. I just see the motor rock quite a bit when it is started. Maybe it was the construction of the Greddy header. Looking from front to rear of the car the header is not straight it's slightly lower where it comes down from the motor and goes at a slight angle up to the connector where it bolts to the cat.
