motor mount instalation and 5th gear is slipping

my 5th gear is slipping and their is a winding noise in 4th. i think this maybe the cause, my motor mounts are a bit screwed up so i bought motor mount inserts. then i took a look at where the motor mounts were were and was wondering if anyone had a step by step do it yourself guide. with the 5 gear slipping problem..... well.. any insite?? thanks

I don't think installing motor mount inserts would cause this.. sounds to me like your clutch play is adjusted incorrectly or you are low on fluid, in which case means you probably need to replaced your clutch master cylinder.. check ebay.. got mine for $35 and it has been fine..

the motor mounts will help shifting in itself, but once it's in gear, that's the tranny

I don't see how changing ur motor mounts could affect ur 5th gear slipping. If it affected the tranny what-so-ever it would affect all gears not just 1 gear.

umm let me try rewording this... its not really slipping but poping out. ill be driving, throw it into 5th and within a couple of minutes it will pop out of gear.

sounds like you have a bad 5th gear synchro ring.

yea but if it is a bad synchro ring i wouldnt be able to put it into 5th.... would i?

yeh, you would. you'd have to be more precise with your shifting, since the syncro can no longer match gears for you, though

problem fixed! i had a front seal leek and once i got that fixed and filled it with transmission fluid, 5th gear works perfect.
