more tranny trouble

alrite fellas, i've been experiecing some weird problems with my tranny lately...... Everytime i running my car hard and try to punch it into 3rd, my car can't get into third, and it just like grinds and makes a horrible sound.... When im just normally driving at around 3k rpm, it goes in pretty fine, bu at higher rpms, it just doesn't go in.... can you guys plz tell me what could be wrong? b/c i don't want to end buying a whole new tranny.

Yeah, I'd say it sounds like syncro's. Try double clutching(let out clutch in neutral before shifting to 3rd) when going from 2-3rd and see if it still grinds at all. It shouldn't if its the syncros.

I'd say around $1200-1500 from what I've heard here on the board. Some one here had it done and posted it long thread about it. Unless you pull the tranny yourself. That's what I would do. They are not to bad to get out form what I hear. Goodluck

a used tranny is usually around $400-500 and UP. And labor runs from about $250 and up, depending where you go.
