Well, I don't know if you guys remember, but a week or two ago, I started a thread telling ya'll that my compression was oddly low (like in the 130 area and 115 on one cylinder), well... come to find out, it must've been the tester I used or something (I KNEW it!), because yesterday I had my mechanic bring his comp. tester home from his work (St.Louis Honda), and we tried it again. Guess what? It read, 180,180,185,180... now how 'bout that? MUCH better huh?
Anyways, could some of you guys with HIGHER MILEAGE ludes post up your comp. #'s if you know them please? My car has 126k on it, so close to that would be beneficial. Just for comparison ya know?

Ok, I'm not really sure how to do a compression test, and my engine is about to hit 100,000 miles. I think it would be a good thing to find out what it reads... Where would I go to get this done? any mechanic? also, about how much would it cost? and can I do it myself?
It's very easy to do. All you need to do is get in posession of (either buy borrowing or buying.. only $20) a compression tester. You take out a spark plug and screw in the tester in it's place. Unplug your coil (NOT the side that goes to the distributor, but the 3 wire square clip on the bottom), and have someone watch the tester as you crank over the motor at WOT (wide open throttle, meaning your gas pedal is all the way down). It won't take long for the needle to stop moving after a certain point, and that's your compression in that cylinder. Replace the plug, and go to the next cylinder.
Is cutting the fuel even essential? I didn't do it when I did mine. As long as you have the distributor disconnected (which, by the way, prelude styl, why do you say not the plug but the wire box?), I wouldn't think it'd matter. No?

And if for some reason a spark goes through then theres no gas to ignite. I haven't done one, im sorta scared... but how many cranks? or do you just do it til the gauge doesnt go up anymore?
