More cam seal stuff

The STR cam seal..

Anything to do with the cam oil seal recall? I don't know which seal was recalled, as I still haven't had it done yet (I hate other people working on my car}. I know that the intent is to install some sort of retainer to keep it from backing out.

So, this STR cam seal now.. same location?

Erik,

I think you are talking about two different things. I think when you refer to the "oil" seal recall, you are talking about the balancer shaft seal recall which involved installing a retainer so the balancer shaft seal does not back out. When I took my car in for that recall, I was told it was a four hour job.

As for the STR cam seal that is the seal that is located on the distributor side of the engine near the VTEC solenoid. I also had that done - $30 for the part. I really had to have this replaced because I was leaking a lot of oil down the distributor side of my engine.

Balancer shaft oil seal.. oh yeah (duhhhhh). That one. Thanks Mark.

As for that STR part, did you just order it direct from STR?

Mark94,
What's up?! Where did you have the cam seal replacement done? Did a Honda tech do it for you? I ordered mine from Summit Racing online, but I don't know who's going to do it for me when I get it.
