I mentioned this before but I wanted to say it again.
It appears that when most people do the SI-VTEC swap they don't bother to change the tach to read the correct redline. I have an idea for this and have begun experimenting.
I have a '95 so my gauges are EL. I took the backlit overlay out of a stock spare cluster I had. I started on the front of it and etched the redline back to the correct VTEC point. This left a nice white band where the old red area used to be. I then scraped the black back to the stock VTEC engagement point (5500 for now) so I ended up with a clear band in the gauge where VTEC is to be. I plan to paint the back with some tranlucent paint (blue testors?) so that when the gauges light up I will have a gauge that is stock EL from 0 to 5500 rpm where a blue band similar to the red band occures up to 7200 rpm where the redline is.
I am sorry I don't have any pics but I think this will be pretty sweet when I am finished.
thats cool man. im using my Si tach and i thought it would bother me but tis so cool see that needle at across the redline like that. plus it keep it a sleeper

Well I will try and get some pics up when I can. I haven't painted the clear band yet. I will need to find the right thinkness of paint so that it doesn't appear brighter than the rest of the gauge. I am also looking for some kind of matte clear paint for the front because the rest of the gauge is not glossy but the part I had to scrape is.
I am not sure when the pics will go up as I am not planning the swap until after the school year. I will most likely finish the gauge before then though.
