Middle Speaker in back..

Whats up with this speaker back there, didn't even know it was there. Was messin around layin speaker wire when I noticed theres a 6X9 there, and it says Alpine(it's not stock is it-I mean it being Alpine). Tripped me out. What I don't get is what was it hooked to and how. I had the original honda tape deck in there at first and I don't remember hearing that speaker. And besides that if it was wired in it must have been wired in series with the back speakers or something. The only thing obstructing my way from taking it out of there is this panel which I cant take off because of a few rivets. How do you get those rivits out?

only certain years and models came with that 6x9, the factory unit was a 6x9 subwoofer with an amp, the previous owner might have swapped it out for the alpine

you dont take the rivets out, that plastic thing is held in there with screws and those annoying plastic clips. take off the rear passenger seat and youll know what im taking about.

Actually the stock 6x9 was made by Alpine, although it was still very poor quality. It's not uncommon to find compaies like Alipine, Pioneer, Polk audio etc. making OEM speakers.

Yup the stock speaker is alpine.

Actually that speaker is run by a mini amp directly underneath, it is not in series with the rear speakers. It only works with the stock deck. I tried to wire power and sound to it at some point, but I could never get it to work

that can't be true. mine works fine after having an aftermarket deck installed.

yeah Satan,

I have a Sony Xplod HU and my 6 X 9" is still operating separately via the mini amp.

Whoever installed your HU is feeding you BS that it won't work.

I replaced mine with a 6x9 Kicker subwoofer. I also ran that off of a Rockford Fosgate amp.

can you put any 6x9 speaker back there? or does it have to be a sub? mine speaker is cracked to hell and buzzez like crazy, i had to disconnect it. some glue actually helped it for a while but it just cracked again.

Ya, as long as it fits Some guys here got the Kicker 6x9 free-air sub, I guess it's better than nothing. I got a real sub instead
