Megan Catback Review..

Honestly, I am pissed off right now b/c of other car related issues(aka the center valve cover nut that keeps on ****ing breaking when I torque it to spec so I can't drive the car), so I might be a little harsh with this review, and it just so happens that I am installing the catback at the same time..

BUT, the welds are amazing, quality is great for $295 shipped, but sorry, it looks like ****ing ass, the mufflers sticks out like 3" and is HUGE imo, but then again, it looks like any other ricer fart cannon..

what did I do? I cut the damn muffler off.. so, if anyone wants a stainless 2.5" ID muffler with the front hangers already welded on, in brand new condition, let me know..

I am not in the mood and don't feel like posting pics..

I have been a supporter of Megan products in the past, and still am, but I still tell it how it is, and it looks like absolute ASS.

Funny thing is I just installed (1 hour ago) my Greddy Evo2 and I love it. Not as loud as some have made it out to be and simply beautiful on a 4th gen! I also recieved my Megan header but Im a little worried about installing it. The stock exhaist was a PITA to remove at the cat. I successfully broke torque on two of the bolts. The last one got stripped and I had to dremel it off. Well all in all the it was a successful install....just time consuming...Remeber I had to modify the flange holes and that took awhile too.

As for the stock header....its so rusty at the cat that I dont think Ill be able to break torque on those nuts. So I might bring it in to a muffler place.

Oh BTW the build quality on the Megan header looks quite good to me. We will see if there is any real power gains.

I have the megan test pipe, its great and cheap! i had the header, aside from rasp/noise from flex section it was great... exhaust is great quality, but on this particular model prelude it just doesn't look good to ME atleast... I would post pics, but like I said, I cut the muffler off lol..

being turbo its not that loud without a muffler anyways.. just gonna extend the pipe straight out the back lol..

I'm serious about selling the muffler though if anyone wants one.. give me a decent offer..

none, but i know that reputable companies charge what they do for a reason. its the r&d that go into making a product, not the blatent copying of a design.

spending a little more on a high quality product will yeild better results all around.

i know its a bad example, but its like comparing JIC FL-TA2's against some generic ebay wannabe coilovers.

^ thats what most people say with brand name parts.

Well, all the parts on my car are brand name parts too(Except for megan testpipe. )..
but I believe in good copies.

Not that its Prelude related, but Accord V6 owners have shown some proof
of cheap brands that functions/dynos just as well.
Because AV6 never received good amount of aftermarket parts, comptech was
solely dominating with $$$$ AV6 parts. Yes, it was almost bad as mugen parts.
Headers for 1000, etc etc. Other brands noticed this and jumped in(OBX, Megan).
Alot of people bought it, dynoed it and came with very good results.

Matter of fact, OBX header showed better gains than comptech's.

OBX/Megan improved ALOT past few years. I know there are bad reviews still,
but it isn't as bad as many people think.

Honestly though, I would still stay away from OBX or Megan when buying
intake manifold or pullies and stuff.. but I wouldn't mind getting header or exhaust.
But Megan needs to change the freaking name... It sounds sooo mugen wanna be.

^^^ i hear ya.......esp with 4th gen stuff

i mean $300 new dc header or $100 megan SS header that actually has a bigger ID

but why does everyone think megan stuff is exact copy? if you look at it, it looks nothing like a mugen header and it couldn't be cause they are totally different headers......

anyways i believe there will be ppl willing to try megan/other "knockoffs" and the ones who will always spend more on the real thing and thats fine......whatever floats your boat

i mean i love my rotas......wouldn't spend the extra 1500 to get real ones

same as me then

Isn't the collector on the Megan header only 2"?

So for my having a JDM Lude it would make my car slower!

My friiend bought the cheap Megan fake titanium catback for his Evo8 and he loves it. *shrug* I don't think the brand is THAT bad. My gf has one of their exhausts on her integ and it doesn't sound or look half bad.
