You can just use a dremel, and cut it yourself you don't need to bring it to any shop or anything.... i cut mine about 2 inches.. I'll look for the pics of mine, plus its also about the type of shifter you put on, his shifter is low already so it adds to it, I have a spoon shif knob and its high, and even tho i cut it 2" it still looks kinda high....

here's a pic of it when I cut it 1" i recently cut another1" off but I didn't take any pics, and yea don't mind the mess, i am in the middle of a swap, and i just threw some of the junk in there....

Jose is right, you don't have to take it anywhere to do it. I used my fathers air cutter and it went through like a knife on butter.

I cut the shifter down .75 inches because I wanted to leave 1/4 inch of the threads just in case I ever had to put my stock knob back on.

If you are getting a knob like mine, it adds to the short appearance because it is very small. My MOMO knob also limited me because the diameter of the hole in the knob is only so wide and the shifter gets wider the farther down the shaft. If I took 1.5 inches off the shifter, the knob wouldn't have been able to slide over the shifter unless the knob's hole diameter was made bigger or you filed the shifter sides down. Just something to keep in mind.

I think mine is perfect with the .75 inch trim and the short knob.

Well the reason I am asking is that I have the shifter out......from a junk yard run and I want to know the maximum I can cut without have any problem.

So from PreludeNYC.....I would say about 2"

With my Trust shifter, it makes it quite a bit shorter itself since it threads higher into the shifter
