How to read ECU Codes?! Smart People HELP!

Hey guys,
Well I have had several problems since my engine swap. One of which is that vtec wil not work, but during all of these problems my check engine light never came on. Well today I installed hondata, and when I installed my shift light I realized that the check engine lioght still was not on. For those of you whom don't know how hondata works, the shift light is wired from the ECU and the signal comes from the check engine light, so when the shift light is on the check engine light is too. Anyways, I took apart my dash, and sure engough someone had REMOVED the check engine light's bulb. So I got a new one and tested the codes.

After jumping the service connector and have read the code, but I am not sure what I am supposed to be looking for. When I put it in ACC, the light immidiately turns off, and stays off (long enough to be considered 'long'), then the lights turns on for short time, turns off, on again and turns off one more time for about a split-second before staying lit up. Am I supposed to be reading it when the light is on or when it is off?

Thanks!

-Josh

the first light blink or blinks would be slow...that indcates the first digital in a number lets say 34 for example the 3 is the first digit. Then the link blinks fast that would indicated the second digit 34 that would be 4

Okay the easiest way to understand the lights is this: short blinks equal 1, and long blinks equal 10. So for example, Blink, Blink, Blink, BBBLLLIIINNNNKKKKK. This would equal 3 smal blinks and a long blink. So you have 3 plus 10= 13. understand? Or 2 long blinks and a 2 short blinks would be 10+10+2=22. And you read the light while it is on. Pretty easy stuff.

Thanks guys,
Thats what
I had done originally. Then I went under my hood and relized my vtec solenoid was unplugged(my vtec still hasn't worked since my swap so I have been doin work on it.) Anyways, after I plugged it back in I reset the ECU, and jumpped the jumper again, this time there is no code, the light stays on( a function of the hondata rom being in backwards:-/), but my vtec STILL does not work. I have done everything. Except replace the internals, What all can go bad inside the head? I have replaced EVERYTHING outside the head, including solenoid, and pressure switch, wires, and, ECU. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Josh
