Maintaining interior..

Quick question.

On our 4th Gens how do you all clean the plastic piece that covers the speedometer etc... In some spots, mine seems to be dirty(fuzzy, not clear) but I cant seem to get it clear.

Also what do you all suggest I use to clean the dash to get it back to its black original state. I think I may have used something bad for it, now it looks kind of faded.

Thanks!

the best thing to get it back to original shiny black is a product called ".303 Aerospace Protectant "... the last time I wiped my dash down was at LFW2002, which was June 1st, and it is still looking as good as the day I cleaned it. I know some other people on this board use the same stuff, and can testify how good it is. Also, all the guys in my dads Porsche club swear by it (including Jerry Seinfeld).

As for the clear plastic... I use a glass cleaner that I bought from Preformance Products here is the page of the actual product Fleet Glass Cleaner . I also use the Plexus Plastic Protectant to keep it looking good for a long time.

Good Luck...

I've been thinking the same thing for a little while... but whatever is clouding my gauges is on the inside of the clear plastic. How difficult is it to take the gauge clusters out of the dash and then take them apart? Got my Helms, but I'd like to hear from someone who's done something similar, the Helms makes things like changing a differential look easy, lol.

Yeah, SoFlaLude , that is the problem that I have too. It seems that the plastic looks 'cloudy' from the inside though. Has anyone seen this problem, and if so, anyone know how to remedy it? Thanks.

I use 303 too. Looks very good. But what do you guys use to wipe it on? I always end up making a mess with that stuff since is sprays.

I spray it onto a small cotton towel... and then wipe the damp towel across the dash and any other parts I want to clean. That I way I dont get spray everywhere.
