Main relay removal

What the hell was Honda thinking? How are you supposed to remove that? from underneat it looks almost impossible so I thought that if I removed the gauge assembly it would be easy to remove, well I was wrong it looks as much a pain from there then from underneat, the bolt is hidden behind some plastic part of the dash. Anybody ever replaced their main relay?

Well I know that when I had my dash out it looked very easy. I even thought about changing it while I was in there just because of all these problems people are having.

Good luck,

you can take out the kick panel under the steering wheel, take out the metal thing with 4 bolts, then take out the air duct, then it is almost right there, VERY easy this way, it depends on if you want to take stuff apart...

Haha, I just did this yesterday too. It's very easy! The trick is to use the old housing and just swap the actual relay itself. So on your new relay, you should see two clips that are holding the brown relay inside the gray casing. Push those back and pop out the relay. Then get under your dash and do the same thing with the same thing to the old one. I just used a flat head screwdriver and it popped out no problem. Then there are a couple of tabs holding the wires into the old relay - pop those out and then insert them into the new relay and then insert the relay into the old housing!! Presto done - don't have to remove the dash or anything like that.

yield: that's a good idea though I decided to leave the old relay there and just let the new one hang in the bunch of wire I have under there for the time being. When I'll have to do some more work under there I'll change it like you did.

Where and for how much can I get a replacement Main Relay? My car's starting to crap out on starting again this summer and replacing it is becoming a good idea...
