Magnaflow cat back

Hello ladies and gentlemen. A few years ago I had a custom exhaust installed, since I figured it was custom I never bothered to look at what it actually was. I like the exhaust, has a deep sound and not too loud. So here's the thing. Yesterday I notice that the bottom of my muffler says MAGNAFLOW in huge letters. So now I have a few questions.

Is this considered a good exhaust? Anyone here has it?

Are there any replicas out there? Is mine authentic?

I will post photos tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any help!

thats like the most common exhaust out there. dunno why there would be replicas if theyre already cheap to start out with.

theyre pretty good though for the $$$, not sure how good they are for our ludes tho...I was thinking of getting one for my cd5 accord because they are supposedly the best for the $$$ for those cars.

I had it on my civic coupe. They are of course replicas to other exhaust and advance auto part/ auto zone sell magnaflow in any line. They are just other brand muffler. Nothings special, but they does hold good quailty products. Many v8 beasts use it.

EDIT: I don't have much of knowledge, but one thing I know is they are replica to borga exhaust.. ****, I forgot whats the name for it Maybe wrong spelling, but start with the B.

Thanks for your replies mates! At least now I know it's just a very common exhaust. That shop just made custom piping with Magnaflow muffler and sold it to me as a custom exhaust. They are out of business now, so fawk them, they got what they deserve.

hey, the exhaust's are just metal pipe, not some rare artifacts!
if its weld together nicely and material is stainless steel what doesnt rust that easily, youre safe

all that dude is saying is that some Magnaflow mufflers are replica to Borla. No one said that Borla is a replica.

^ the whole cat back is stainless, including the resonator chamber. The problem is the welds are starting to show slight rust. I guess those idiots didn't know how to weld rust free beads.

no one said anything about custom works, they are usually hand made

http://www.automationig.com/page/ser...-1900x1200.jpg

but when bigger companies make their products they use machines to do the job. its faster and robots do good welds

^ all I was saying is that people who welded my exhaust suck because the welds are starting to show some rust. The pipes and muffler are stainless steel.

I have taken college classes (for fun mostly to work on my toys) and from what I have read above you had a shop do the exhaust for you. This means they most likely used a mig welder. Mig is used in most shops due to the fact they are faster and cheaper. I can tell you from experience that when mig welding is an art but not that complicated. The complicated part is working with stainles steel welds. Here is some info I pulled from the web to better explain this.

"When you look at that shiny stainless part remember it's protected by a self healing, very thin oxide film and as long as that film is intact and there is oxygen present, the stainless remains rust resistant. Even when the stainless surface is damaged and not contaminated, the stainless film will recover. However when the stainless is attacked by carbon steel contamination, the film is unable to recover and under the film their is active metal waiting to corrode."

So what this is saying is that welding is a pretty good way to make stainless steel rust. It sucks you see rust but I say good luck not seeing it. If it were me I would look into coating the welds after the work was done with something like a clear epoxy or something to prevent the rusty welds.

just a quick question. what size exhaust piping do you have? cause at the moment im running 2.5" straight pipe with a 29" cherry bomb acting as a resonator and i just ordered a 2.5 in/outlet magnaflow and im just trying to figure out how loud and or quite it well be with my setup.

^ 2.5" and I believe my resonator is 14" long and 3.5" in diameter. It's loud, but very deep and don't forget I'm running it out of F22A1, stock intake, stock headers lol.
