made a lip today....

yep the one from home depot, took 4 hours of fabbing to make it fit, but I got it done and it looks nice, car sits 3 inches off the ground in the front.

Car feels smoother on the top speed runs, but under hard breaking on the interstate, it hits the ground hard and gets bent in a little, but I think it will be ok, I just have to fix it by simply pulling it back into place when I get out of the car.

I was actually inspired to go to home depot to find the right kind of garden edging but none of the ones around me have the right one (Valley View). What brand did you use? Got any close up pics?

the only down side to it, well i use to drive 4.5 hours every weekend and yeah after about 1 month the middle part starts to mold in. like if you look at the first pic i show look in between were my plate is. that part would bend in-ward. but all i would do is pull it back to shape with my hand. but for the price it's perfect. and i never cried when i would hit shlt. and when i busted my whole front of my car, my lip was perfect. so it's way better then the c/f lip that everyone gets, and a hell of a lot cheaper too

also note**** the stuff i used is a short 3" one i thnk, there is a 4 and i thnk a 5 inch one. i just picked the 3" or 3.5" one because it was the only one i found at my H.D.

another note *** and don't call it a home depot lip. it makes it sound dumb, call it the HD lip or a custom lip. when you say home depot people look at you funny

Yeah I only found the 5" one and it would have looked silly. When I said Home Depot, I meant McGarden lip

It looks alright in pics, but in person, I didn't like it at all... just my opinion though

It would look better with some air duct/vents in the front. But it's nice none the less!

i had to do alot of trimmin on mine, I got whatever brand they had and made it work. Everyone seems to like it, it looks like a touring car from infront. I dont have a digi cam, sorry. I am going to reinforce mine with somthing like aluminum, so the middle doesent bend in.

for all that, ya ll should hit the junk yard and get a 94-95 accord front lip like it did. its clean and respectable for the work.
Altho the home depot still looks good, ijust dont see it on my car

to all of you.

oh and i paid $10 for that lip at the junkyard hehe just in case u wondering.

i mean, the idea of having bought the materials from Home Depot affects anyone's judgment, but I actually don't think it looks so bad, especially when compared to some of the hideous front bumpers all these rice factories are making. If you can get some plain looking sideskirts to fall more in line with the front lip, I'd say it'll look stellar, and before Si_g points it out, the accord skirts would look perfect with it.
