MAD tire wear

Just wondering the possible causes of uneven wear on the tires...alignment, rubbage, and....etc, etc.

I'm getting wear on all parts except for about 1-1.5 inch on the inside of both front wheels. You can run your hand over the tread and just feel the jump where the wheel wears and where it doesnt. Weird....Could this most likely be due to alignment?

Yea, get an alignment. Roughly 30-50 takes about an hour. Or you can do it yourself

oh, ah, eh... I learned all about this in autos at school. If you post a pic (of the tire), I might beable to tell you the exact problem. Its eather A) over inflation, B) under inflation, C) Toe in D) Toe out. Or there was 2 more, where the tire wasnt lined up correctly virticly... however, I cant think of what it was called. Probally mostlikely toe out where the front wheels are both facing outwards. Just have someone aline it to slove the problem (but it might be too late for your tires). You need some fancy measureing thingies to aline wheels yourself. Or you do, if you want your wheels alined correctly.

I'd like to know as well how you can do it yourself, in my own garage, without the alignment machine

I think the other 2 you forgot are Positive & Negative Camber. If theres a bit of negative camber (top of tyre leaning inwards) you will have wear on the inside, vise versa for positive camber.

well it seems that the top of my tire is leaning outwards because the outside of the tire is wearing...how would one get that? It seemed like it started happening after I threw in the new motor...

Is it a possibility that the difference in weight caused this? To lean outwards?

Did you install a camber kit when you dropped your car?

Just take it to an alinement shop... that *should* slove all the tire problems. Yeah, camber were the other two. And that could be it too.... since you said the inside of the tire isnt as warn down. You alinement sounds really messed up!

That's what I am thinking. If he is wearing on the outside that is kinda weird. How fast do you turn corners? Are you just taking full advantage of the prelude suspension??
