Lowering springs?

Sooooo, i've been thinking of lowering the car, especially since I got some 17's on it for the summer. Question is: what's out there currently that'll give me around a 1"-1.5" drop? I don't want coilovers, and i've been looking at the Eibach Pro-kit, but is there anything else beside that, that is good quality? Price-wise i'm looking to not go over $300.

skunk2 and tein both make springs that are in that range. FYI i work in a shop that's a eibach prokit dealer, and they have yet to impress me.

Good quality is one thing but putting lowering springs on old shocks isn't going to give you a great ride at all.
