Lowering my prelude

hey guys, I just want to know if using only lowering springs to lower my car will work. its a 96, i want to hear from people that have actually done this. I already know that its "recommended" to use aftermarket struts but i want to know if anyone out there has done ONLY springs and what luck did you have with it. Thanks in advance

You will blow your stock shocks in <10k with lowering springs. If you're still on the originals shocks, they're probably about gone by now anyway....

what if your really carefull going over bumps and stuff, I heard the only reason they go out prematurely is because of bottoming out your shocks to much. What makes them go out with just lowering springs?

Stock shocks are not designed to be used with lowering springs, so they will be partially compressed all the time. They are not designed for that.

Like I already posted, if you are still using the original shocks that came new with the car 15 years ago, more than likely they are already blown anyways. Replacing them wouldn't be a bad idea, with or without switching to lowering springs.

there is a reason it's recommended.

Honestly you gotta pay to play is my mentality now. Why go the cheapest route?

Just do it right once and you won't have to worry about it again.

don't chince out... you make look good but your ride quality will suck. aftermarket springs are generally stiffer so you'll get a lot of bounce... kyb makes entry level kits i believe... i'm on koni yellows with apex springs and love it... stock rims and tires will fit fine. depending on how much you drop, you will need a camber kit front and back, or you'll roast your tires.
