Low rpm rev limiter

New member here. I have a 94 Prelude h22 that I am oval track racing. I just finished it and practiced today for the first time. Runs great until I get to 3500 rpm, feels just like the rev limiter hits. I have been racing fuel injected cars for several years and different types of cars. I have never used an o2 sensor in any of my cars since I only run at wot or idle. I suspect that my Prelude is in limp mode because of the missing o2 sensor, is this correct? The engine is all stock and so is the ignition system. Thanks.

Just about everything makes hondas run in safe mode with a stock ECU. You should look into hondata. It allow you to bypass many sensors and tune the motor however you want. I'm suprized you haven't used o2 sensors in the past because I thought this is how the ecu makes the adjustments to make power.
Post some pics Id like to see an oval prelude.

hey i have a similar problem i did a h23 to h22 swap and the h22 rums great with the p14 ecu for the h23, but as soon as i plug the p13 ecu it barley starts idles fine but bogs down really bad when i hit the gas and it wont rev over 3000 and also sounds like it hits rev limiter.wapwapwapwap.I never hooked up my o2 sensor on the downpipe eather,so you think this is my problem?why does it run fine with the p14.

The p13 is a smarter ecu which changes fuel mixture to compensate so that the internals are not damaged, so if you are missing a vital part it will limit your rpm's because i believe past 4k other sensors/parts kick in and take over.
