Loud POP while driving last night.. suggestions?

Hello,
Last night while driving home from work I heard an extremely loud POP noise. Now it's possible I GUESS that it could have come from someone on the sidewalk, but when I looked I didn't notice anyone.

The noise was one of those extremely loud ones that makes you close your eyes and cringe from the loudness. Anyone have any suggestions? It sounded like it was coming from under the car.

I've had another car that made a loud pop once when a hole busted in the exhaust pipe somewhere. My car is low as hell, so I guess maybe all the scraping could have weakened it to a point where a hole might have been produced.

Anyway, this morning when I woke up there was no puddle of anything on the garage floor, and she drives smooth as ever.

It's a 93' Prelude Si. As always, thanks in advance.

Jim

Could have been backfire I guess, I would have thought that it would happen more than just once ever and the engine would sound junky or something (like a stereotypical backfiring peice of junk) but I guess you could be right.

And I don't drive fast unless challenged at a light.

lol ubetter.

VTEC: Good thinking, I only bought the car about 5k miles ago, but I certainly think plugs are wires are due for an upgrade.
