Losing engine power, backfires, returns to normal

The last couple of days when I've been driving for awhile my engine will shudder and when I push the gas pedal nothing happens. When my wife drives it dies but if I'm driving I put it in neutral and push it and it will backfire and then return to normal. So I did a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor). On my drive home, about 10 minutes, it happened while I was going 50mph in 5th gear. I put some seafoam in it last night, and this morning it's doing it again. It seems the tune up made things worse, because its doing it in a much shorter time span. I have no CEL. I did the wire jump on the connector, and still no CEL. The car is a 92 Si with a 94 h22 swap, I bought it like that. It's had about 20k miles on it since the swap and I've had 0 engine problems until now. I changed the oil before this started happening, but I can't imagine that has anything to do with it. Any help is much appreciated.

Hey buddy you're in luck. I had exactly the same problem this summer. Whenever i would stomp on the gas the car would not respond what so ever. The car would struggle to rev past 3000rpm in any gear. I was driving one day and got so frustrated that i put the gas pedal to the floor for about a minute and suddenly the check engine light came on. Bingo! I'll bring up the code and repair what needed fixing. The code was o2 sensor. Replace the o2 sensor and she'll be good to go right?? Nope that didnt do it. What a waste of time and money. Regardless, i got thinking. After thoroughly reading my helms manual it appeared to me that the fuel filter was the culprit. So i went and bought an $8 fuel filter and installed it. Whhhaaammoo. She drove just like new after that. Sorry for the long story but its nice to give someone advice who has actual experience in the matter. Change the fuel filter and hopefully she'll be fixed. The old filter was soooo clogged it was funny. By the way, its a very simple fix. Less than 30 min if you follow the steps correctly in the helms. Good luck. Get back to me if that worked.
