looking for kicker 6x9

I know this gets brought up all the time. Well, my stock 6x9 in the VTEC factory location has finally blown. I say finally because up until I read the other threads on here, I didn't realize that that speaker was so succeptable to getting blown. Basically, the cone started separating from the foam surround. It was rattling like crazy whenever I turned up the stereo. Didn't even know what it was until I took it apart and closely examined it.

AAAaaanyway, after reading some threads, it appears that the Kicker 6x9 subwoofer is a great replacement for it (I'll be sticking with the stock amp). Problem is, where in the world can I buy one??? Or does someone have one they want to sell?

Also, I know that the stock 6x9 is wired via factory harnesses. Does anyone have experience with this as well? Or do you guys just cut the harnesses off and wire it to the speaker directly?

THANKS!

you should be able to cut off the factory wire connector and wire the leads directly to the new speaker.

Do VTECs have the 6x9 in the rear dash and Si's 6 1/2"? I just put some Kenwood Dual Mags (6 1/2") in my car and they sound crystal clear even when cranked up. I highly recommend them, especially if you get them at Best Buy employee price like me, 50% off.

I also bought a harness adaptor from best buy, for like 5 bucks (your price), so that I connect the factory harness into that and the other end connects the kenwood speakers. Hope this helps.

Vtec models also have the 6.5" in the rear, but they also have a 6x9 powered sub between the 2 rear seats as well. That is the 6x9 that he is refering to.

oh, and uh, another thing...

other than the kicker 6x9 (which by the way, seems impossible to find brand new). MOST 6x9 are two way or three ways. If I plug it into the factory wiring, how will the tweeter part of the 6x9 be affected? Is there some kind of built in crossover or something in the factory amp/wiring that sends ONLY bass signals to the 6x9?

I also noticed that the stock 6x9 has one of those cheapo paper cone tweeters on it. So I'm confused as to what the intention fo that 6x9 is. If it was meant to act as a sub (which is what it looks and sounds like), why is there a paper cone tweeter on it?

I got my kicker 6x9 from ubid.com, brand new for around 70 bucks I think. Forget about the stock wiring and just get a small amp to power the sub. I have a jensen ka3 which has 150 watts for the sub channel I believe. The sub sounds really nice.

The ad says "new" in the title, and the seller says "I was going to use this pair but never got around to it". All he did was shave down the contacts so you can slip a smaller female spade plug on them, which would not affect the funtion of the speaker at all.
