Looking for a decent sized whole in the firewall - Honda Prelude Forum

I need to fit a 1/2 diameter wired sensor through from inside the car through the firewall into the engine bay. Are there any large existing holes anywhere, because I have not yet found one and I am thinking I may have to drill.

Th only one I know of is behind the fuse box on the firewall. I'm not sure if it is 1/2 inch in diameter though.

i had to drill to run power wire and wires for my keyless entry/alarm.

damn. drilling through seems to take forever for me.

whats a good recommended drill bit that will get through the metal fast?

when i did mine i used some cheepy bits and they did just fine. didnt take long at all.

Ive had really good luck with dewalts brand. Make sure you get a long one depending on where youre drilling...i didnt mine next the steering column for my 4 ga power wire.

you shouldn't have to drill a new hole, the grommet behind the fuse box would easily fit a 1/2" hole. all you need to do is cut out some of the rubber.

easist way I found was to use a sheet metal screw first to make a pilot hole and then use a Unibit to make the hole

that hole by the fuse box is huge...definetly fit...just cut that grommet a bit

There is another hole lower on the firewall also. On the passenger side down below the throttle body somewhere. The gommet will allow a 4 guage whire through it probably even bigger. I dbout wht you need to run is bigger than that. That way you won't have to drill a hole.
